Visitor payback scheme

Visitor payback schemes allow tourism businesses to raise funds for an initiative of their choosing. The schemes can take a variety of forms, but the most common is to ask guests and vistors whether they would like to add a little to their bill by way of a donation.

We spent some time looking for an organisation to support, wanted to become involved with an organisation that is local to the Tamar Valley, involves food, and has a good information source that we can point visitors towards. We have decided to give guests the option to donate 25p per person per night to Tamar Grow Local.

Tamar Grow Local was set up in February 2007, and is registered as a Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit organisation that is allowed to trade. Its three main aims are:

  • Provide opportunities and support for local people to grow their own food including allotments, growing plots and orchards.
  • Work with commercial growers and supply chains to increase the availability and consumption of local food.
  • Raise the profile of the market gardening history of the area and the benefits of local food.

The donation will be itemised seperately on your bill, and we will keep the funds in a seperate holding account, passing them on to Tamar Grow Local every three months, interest included. If you would rather not have the contribution added to your bill, simply let us know at any point before your date of departure.

25p per person per night is our suggested donation, and will help us to raise £250 - £300 per year. You are welcome to contribute more if you wish !
