Eating well

Good food is very important to us; we spend a high proportion of our income on things to eat. This is not to say that we buy needlessly expensive ingredients, or that we eat excessively, but that we do not mind paying for quality produce from small businesses run by people who are passionate about what they do.

The West Country, and in particular Cornwall, seems to be at the forefront of a renewed interest in local produce. As well as those people who have always been selling excellent products but not had a handy label with which to market them, a number of small businesses have started up within the last few years or so, focusing on the production of small ranges of very high quality foods and drinks.

Eating well without being precious about it is not that difficult, and is not necessarily more time consuming ( once the initial effort to source suppliers has been made ). Once 'organic', 'local', 'traceability' etc cease to be buzzwords and start to represent how most of us go about buying our food, as they did not so long ago, we can all relax and enjoy ourselves properly.
